AUTOCROSS ARTEIXO (Spanish Champ.)

The sixth round of the 2019 Spanish Autocross Championship was held the weekend of the 17 and 18 of August at the 'José Ramón Losada' circuit, in Arteixo. The event from the Coruña area is reckoned as the most important of the series, and lived to its fame once again, with around 10.000 spectators on the grandstands and record entries in the six categories of the championship. Speed Car was represented in Car Cross and Junior, with podiums in both categories. Eduard Bañeres was second in Junior while Juan José Moll finished third in Car Cross.

CAR CROSS

Juan José Moll
(3rd CarCross)

Joan Salichs
(4th CarCross)

Josep Arqué
(7th CarCross)

The Car Cross category was, as usual, the most competitive with 56 entrants, 11 of them driving the Xtrem model from Speed Car. Four of the Speed Car drivers managed to get trough the very hard fought heats and be among the top 15 that contested the final. The 8 laps race produced a spectacular duel for third position between two of the Speed Car drivers, Joan Salichs and Juan José Moll, won by Moll in the very last corner of the last lap. With this third position, Moll consolidates his leadership in the championship.

Jordi Puigvert
(15th CarCross)

The third Xtrem under the chequered flag was the driven by Josep Arqué, who finished seventh, scoring yet another good result in his first season in the category. Bad luck though for Jordi Puigvert, out of the race in the second lap so he was classified 15th.

CAR CROSS JUNIOR

Eduard Bañeres
(2nd CarCross Jr.)

Pol Duran
(7th CarCross Jr.)

Biel Gavilán
(8th CarCross Jr.)

Five out of the eleven entrants in the category for the youngest drivers of the Spanish Car Cross scene drove at Artiexo the always competitive Speed Car Xtrem, once again the model with more cars in a round of the championship. And, as usual this season, the best result among them was scored by Eduard Bañeres. The Escudería Lleida driver got again to the podium, this time on the second step, a result that confirm him among the best driver of the series. The next Speed Car driver across the finish line was Laura Lista, in 6th position, but a 'drive trough' penalty relegated her to the 9th place.

Laura Lista
(9th CarCross Jr.)

Josep Aranda
(10th CarCross Jr.)

Ahead of Laura were classified, in the 7th and 8th positions, his team mates Pol Durán and Biel Gavilán. The presence of Speed Car was completed by Josep Aranda, 10th after having to retire in the second lap of the final.
