The last round of the 2018 Spanish Hillclimb Championship was held the 28, 29 and 30 of September at the La Santa Hillclimb. The seventh event of the season produced the fifth podium of the year for Edgar Montellà, who was third in the categoría 2 with his Speed Car GTR.
The young Andorra born driver was all the weekend in the fight for the top positions of the 'CM-Promoción' group. On Satruday, Edgar scored the second best time in the first race climb, right behind the already champion, Garikoitz Flores, and ahead of Arkaitz Ordoki and Christian Broberg, who were battling for the runner up spot of the championship.
On Sunday, after not finishing the second timed climb, Montellà went for it in the final one and scored the best time of the category 2. Anyway, hampered by the fact that Sunday times were faster while he had to use the Saturday result in his total time, he was finally just seven tenths away of the second position and had to settle for third. In the overall standings of the championship, Edgar finishes the season in a quite remarkable fourth position his first full season at national level.
Two more drivers, the Aldomar brothers, also raced in the hillclimb of the Murcia region at the wheel of CM cars built by Industrias Lahoz. The best result for the couple of Ciudad Real born drivers was for Miguel Ángel, sixth in the category 2 with his Speed Car GTR despite he also couldn't complete the second run, first of the two held on Sunday and when the fastest times were set. Right behind him, in seventh position, finished his brother Pedro, driving a Speed Car GTR.
