The 2018 Spanish Autocross Championship had at Lleida its second round the 7th and 8th of April. The adverse weather, with heavy rain, make it hard for organizers and competitors but finally all the programme of the event was done.
For Industrias Lahoz, the second round of the series went on in the positive line set at the first one, with two wins for the Speed Car, scored by Joan Enric De María in the division III and Juan José Moll in Car Cross, as well as a couple of second positions for Eduardo Sotelo and Pol Catalá in the division III and the Junior category.
Great comeback for Joan Enric De María. The five times Spanish Autocross champion, four times in the division III, returned to racing at Lleida at the wheel of a Speed Car TTR and stamped his autority since the qualifying session, when he set the best time. Two wins in the heats on Saturday confirmed him as the main contender for the final, where he dominated from start to finish, winning and setting the fastest lap.
On the podio he was together with his team mate Eduardo Sotelo, who complete a 1-2 result for the Speed Car TTR. Very good result also for the winner at Motorland, Ares Lahoz, who finished in fourth position.
Second victory of the season for Juan José Moll, unbeatable in this beginning of the 2018 at the wheel of his su Speed Car Xtrem. The current Spanish champion lead from the start in the always competitive final, winning by almost two second ahead his closest follower after eigth really hard laps on a very slippery track.
Very close to the podium was Josep Arqué, building on the good feeling left at his mayden race in the category, last month at Motorland to finish fourth, just one tenth shy of third positions.
Five more drivers got to the final for the best fifteen at the wheel of the Xtrems built by Speed Car, again the car with more competitors in a national race. Next on the results was Jordi Colomer, who finished 11th, followed closely by Joaquín Fontán. From 13th to 15th finiahed Joan Salichs, Pau Aulet and Jordi Puigvert, the three also with the Speed Car model.
Pol Catalá was again amongst the main stars in the Junior category. After his win at Motorland, the Speed Car driver put this time his Xtrem in the second position, just two seconds behind the winner. A result that confirms him as one of the top contenders in the fight for the title in the category entered by the youngest drivers of Spanish Autocross.
Two more drivers contested the Lleida round of the series at the wheel of the Xtrems. Eduard Bañeres finished in sixth position of the final, just ahead of his team mate Josep Aranda, who was seventh.
