The 2015 Spanish Autocross championship completed its double visit to the region of Galicia with the running, on the 15th and 16th of August, of the classic round of Arteixo, reckoned to be the most important event of the series. The racing at the spectacular track of La Coruña resulted in a couple of podiums for the SPEEDCARs, with the second position in División III for Joan Enric de María and third in the Junior category for Ares Lahoz. In the CarCross, the best classified driver at the wheel of a SPEEDCAR was Pablo Sánchez, who finished fifth. Additionaly, the second position scored by De María mathematically secures the title for the SPEEDCAR driver.
Joan Enric De María is already the virtual Division III Spanish Champion after adding yet another second position at Arteixo to the one scored at the previous event, held at Carballo. At the wheel of his SPEEDCAR TTR, the Escudería Lleida driver didn't have it easy to get on to the podium as, after winning the first heat, he was unlucky in the second one which dropped him to fifth position on the grid for the final. Anyway, his pace and the performances of the SPEEDCAR were shown once again during the eight laps of the final race of the weekend, recovering positions to cross the finish line in second position, just a second behind the winner and scoring enough points to mathematically secure the championship with a round left.
Three more SPEEDCARs entered the Division III race. The next past the chequered flag was the TTR driven by Juan José Aranda, as consistent as usual to complete a very positive weekend, being fifth overall in the heats and also in the final. Right behind him finished the SPEEDCAR TTX of Delfín Lahoz, qwho was sixth, just a few tenths shy of his team mate. The good result of the SPEEDCAR was completed by the TTR of Javier Gómez, tenth at the end of the race.
A spectacular entry list in the CarCross category with no less than seventy drivers contesting the heats, fourteen of them at the wheel of the SPEEDCAR Xtrem, almost a quarter of the total, a great percentage that stayed almost unchanged within the fifteen that got to the final, as three of them where drivers from the Catalonian manufacturer.
The best result was scored by the local driver Pablo Sánchez, very fast throughout the whole weekend at the Arteixo circuit. After being third in the first heat and winning the second, Pablo started the final from eight position, recovering three places to cross the finnish line fifth, just half a second behind the fourth placed driver and a little more than three seconds shy of a podiu finnish.
The next Xtrem driver at the end of the race was Juan José Moll, usually in the top positions at all the national rounds of the Car Cross category. The rapid Catalonian driver had to settle this time for eight but, with a round to the end of the championship, he remains in the fight for the top positions of the series. The third SPEEDCAR at the final race of Arteixo was the one driven by another local driver, Sergio Bello, who get to the chequered flag in eleventh position.
