AUTOCROSS CARBALLO (Spanish champ.)

The fourth round of the 2015 Spanish Autocross Championship was held the on the first weekend of June at Carballo. The first of the two dates of the series in the Galicia region produced good results for several of the drivers entering the different divisions of the event at the wheel of SPEEDCARs. The best position went to Joan Enric De María, second in Division III with his TTR, while both Juanjo Aranda, fourth in Division III with another TTR, and Jordi Puigvert, fourth in Car Cross with a Xtrem, were very close to a podium finish. Two fifth positions, for the Xtrems of Juan José Moll, in Car Cross, and Ares Lahoz, in Junior, completed the top five positions scored by the SPEEDCAR drivers.

Less than a second away from winning was Joan Enric De María in the final of the Division III. The Escudería Lleida driver had won his two heats after settign the second best time in qualifying, and finnished second in the nine lap final, a good result that consolidates the overall championship lead for the SPEEDCAR driver.

The other two SPEEDCARs recovered positions in the final after being unlucky in the heats. Juanjo Aranda, who was starting from sixth position, finished fourth, just a second shy of a podium position, and Delfín Lahoz took the chequered flag in fifth place, recovering three positions from the eight he had on the starting grid of the final race.

CAR CROSS

Jordi Puigvert (4th Car Cross)

Juan José Moll (5th Car Cross)

Iago Caamaño (14th Car Cross)

Ten SPEEDCAR Xtrems took part in the very competitive Car Cross heats, which had a total of 44 entrants at Carballo fighting for the 15 positions of the final. Three SPEEDCAR drivers got through, scoring the best result was the Xtrem driven by Jordi Puigvert, who had been second and third in the heats, which put him fifth on the grid for the final where he finnished fourth. Right behind him at the finish line was another SPEEDCAR, driven by Juan José Moll, who recovered from ninth to end up fifth and keep second position in the overall standings of the championship.

The third Xtrem in the final was driven by local man Iago Caamaño, currently competing in rallies in the national tarmac series with a Porsche but who didn't want to miss the classic race of Carballo, where, at the wheel of a SPEEDCAR, he was 14th in the 'A Final', after winning the 'B Final' and being 13th in the heats.

CAR CROSS JUNIOR

Ares Lahoz (4th Junior CarCross)

Ares Lahoz was again among the best in the category for the younger drivers of Spanish autocross, the CarCross Junior. At the wheel of her Xtrem, Ares recovered to fourth position in the final after a couple of tough heats that had sent her to the back of the grid but didn't discourage the young Catalonian driver, who showed again her pace and the continual progress she's making during her first season in the Spanish championship.
