AUTOCROSS MIRANDA DE EBRO (Spanish Champ.)

The sixth round of the 2022 season in the Spanish Autocross Championship was held on the first weekend of September at the Antonio Vadillo circuit in Miranda de Ebro. The competition at the Burgos track brought together a very large number of participants, with more than one hundred competitors in the different categories of the competition. Speed Car was once again represented in four of them and scored second places in three thanks to Joan Salichs in Car Cross and Josep Aranda in Car Cross Promotion, both with the new Wonder from Industrias Lahoz, and Pol Durán in Junior with the always competitive Xtrem.

DIVISION III

Eduard Bañeres
(4th Div.III)

Delfín Lahoz
(14th Div.III

Iosu Alberdi
(15th Div.III)

The Division III once again beat its record of participants so far this season with a total of eighteen drivers on track, of which three competed with two different Speed Car models. With his usual TTR, Eduard Bañeres was the fastest in the timed practice sessions, but an unfortunate breakdown in the qualifying heats conditioned his result by relegating him to sixteenth place on the starting grid for the final. From such a backward position, the Speed Car driver came back at a very good pace to end up crossing the finish line in fourth position, being the first time so far this season that he did not make it onto the podium.

His two team-mates were less fortunate in the final. Delfín Lahoz, who returned to a national event driving a TTX, was fifth but could only complete three laps after having been fourth in the time trial and fifth in the qualifying rounds, in which he added two second places, proving that he is still among the fastest in the category. Iosu Alberdi's race with the TTR was even shorter as he was forced to retire due to a collision with another competitor just after starting from twelfth place on the grid.

CAR CROSS

Joan Salichs
(2nd CarCross)

Arnau Biosca
(5th CarCross)

Pol Salichs
(7th CarCross)

The Car Cross category gathered thirty-nine participants in Miranda de Ebro, of which eight competed at the wheel of the Speed Car models, the Wonder and the Xtrem, once again making Industrias Lahoz products the most represented in another national event.

Three of the Speed Cars got trough the always demanding heats that select the best fifteen for the final. Of these, the best classified was Joan Salichs' Wonder. The Escudería Mollerusa driver won two of his qualifying heats after being fourth in the timed practice and in the final he was always in the fight for the podium positions to end up second thanks to a spectacular overtaking move with the finish line in sight. This result allows Joan to remain in the fight for the title with only two races left to the end of the season.

Other good performances came from Arnau Biosca, fifth with his Xtrem after having been fifteenth in the timed practice and tenth in the qualifying rounds, and Pol Salichs, who also gained positions with another Xtrem throughout the weekend, going from eighteenth in the time trial to thirteenth on the grid, after being third, fourth and tenth in the heats, to finish the final in seventh place.

CAR CROSS JUNIOR

Pol Durán
(2nd Junior)

Quim González
(4th Junior)

Aleix Costa
(9th Promoción)

Although for the first time this season there was no victory for a Speed Car in the Junior category, the second position achieved by Pol Durán consolidates his leadership in the championship with the last two races of the year remaining. Pol's was the first of the four Speed Cars to finish in the top ten in the event with the most participants of the season, as a total of twenty drivers took part in Miranda de Ebro in the Junior category.

Juan Manuel Grigera
(10th Promoción)

One step away from the podium was his brand mate Quim González, who took fourth place with his Xtrem, while Aleix Costa was ninth with another Xtrem and José Manuel Grigera came back from seventeenth place after reaching the A final through the B final to finally finish tenth after a steadily improving performance with his Wonder.

CAR CROSS PROMOTION

Josep Aranda
(2nd Promoción)

The Car Cross Promotion category was once again very evenly matched, with six different winners in the qualifying heats. One of them was Josep Aranda, who rounded off another positive weekend at the wheel of his Wonder with second place in the final, a result that confirms him as one of the contenders for the title. The Escudería Mollerusa driver had set the second fastest time in the timed session, although the subsequent exclusion for technical irregularities in his Car Cross of the only driver who had lapped faster finally gave him first place. A first, a third and a seventh in the heats placed him second on the starting grid for the final, in which he was always in the leading positions to finish in a very important second position in terms of his chances of winning the championship.
