AUTOCROSS ARA LLEIDA (Spanish Champ.)


With a schedule strognly affected by the Covid19 crisis, the 2020 Goldspeed Spanish Autocross Championship finally started at the Circuit Municipal Parc de la Serra with the 28th running of the Autocross Ara Lleida, held on a very improved track, wider and with better safety in order to become part next season of the European Championship.

For Speed Car it was a very satisfying event. In the Division III, Ares Lahoz won with a TTR, in Car Cross, the Swede Enholm got to the podium in third position with a Xtrem while Juanjo Moll gave a good debut to the new Wonder, and in Junior the rookie Gil Membrado won ahead of three other drivers at the wheel of the Xtrems from Industrias Lahoz.

DIVISION III

Ares Lahoz
(1st Div.III)

Great start of the season for Ares Lahoz, who drove in her home race the Speed Car TTR lend by Juanjo Aranda. The young Lerida born driver was always on the fight for the top positions of the Division III against some very strong rivals like the current French champion, Thomas Christol, and his fellow countryman Jeoffrey Calmettes.

After scoring the thrid best time in qualifying, Ares won the second heat and had an interesting battle in the final with the French and Spanish champions to end upo winning while her rivals didn't finish the race.

CAR CROSS

Almost half of the Car Cross entrants for the first round of the national series were at the wheel of Speed Car built models. Ten out of the tweny five competitors drove the always fast Xtrem, and this race was also the first in Spain for the new Wonder, designed according to the FIA rulebook and driven by the current Spanish champion Juan José Moll.

The Wonder was inmediately on the pace with Moll being the fastest in qualifying and winning his three heats. In the final, an incident at the start meant he lost all chances to win but, anyway, Moll finished fourth, right behind of the Xtrem driven by the Swede Sebastian Enholm, who ended up getting the best result among the six Speed Car driver in the race for the top15 of the weekend.

Salichs was fifth, while Pau Aulet finished eight after getting to the final A trough the final B, and Josep Arqué ended up eleventh after being one the drivers who lost more time in the first lap incident. Even worse luck for Josep María Vila, who could only complete three laps and was classified in 14th position.

CAR CROSS JUNIOR

Eight drivers raced in the Car Cross Junior, five at the wheel of Speed Car Xtrem, with four of them finishing in the four first positions. An amazing 1-2-3-4 for the Industrias Lahoz built model headed by a young driver with a very well know name in Spanish motorsport, Gil Membrado. The son of the several times Catalonian rally champion dominated in a spectacular way his mayden race in the national series. Membrado was the fastest in qualifying, won his three heats and despite losing the leadership at the beginning of the final after a bad start, quickly recovered the time lost to overtake all his rivals, get away and win more than eight seconds ahead after the ten laps of the race.

Behind the winner, finished three more Xtrem's drivers, second was Josep Aranda after a close duel with Aleix Costa, third just three tenths shy of his rival, and fourth was Pol Durán while the rookie Julia Vaqueras crossed under the chequered flag in seventh position with the remaining Xtrem.
