AUTOCROSS ESPLÚS (Spanish Champ.)


The 2019 Spanish Autocross Championship held its third round the first weekend of May at Esplús. The Huesca region event is getting settled in the national series and in its third year registered an increase in the number of competitors for most of the categories, being the Division III the only exception with just three entrants.

For the Speed Car drivers, Esplús was yet another weekend with several psitive results, specially for Josep Arqué and Juan José Moll, who finished second and third in Car Cross, and for Eduard Bañeres, who was third in the Junior category. And there were again eight Xtrem among the top fifteen in CarCross, always the most competitive category of the championship.

More than a third of the 31 competitors in the Car Cross division at Esplús were driving one of the Xtrems from Speed Car. And eight of them got to the final for the top 15 of the weekend, showing again the speed of the Car Cross model built by Industrias Lahoz.

Two of the Speed Car drivers got to the podium in the final race. Josep Arqué finished second, closely followed by his brand mate Juan José Moll, who was third under the chequered flag. Three positions behind was Jordi Puigvert, sixth and only a couple of second behind the fourth. Behind him ended up, in the seventh and eight positions, Joan Salichs and Santiago Montalbán with two more of the Xtrems.

The next Speed Car to finish the ten laps of the race was the one driven by Josep María Vila, in tenth position. Pol Catalá was 12th, three laps down, and Arnau Biosca could only complete three laps and was classified 15th.

Eduard Bañeres got again to the podium at Esplús. After his great second position at Lleida, the young Speed Car driver was third in the final and consolidates his place among the main contenders for the title in the Junior category.

Right behind him finished the two other drivers at the weel of the Xtrems in the Huesca region event. Pol Durán was fourth and Josep Aranda was fifth, repeating the result scored in the previous round of the series.
