The 2018 Spanish Autocross Championsip was close to a perfect start for Speed Car. The first round of the series, held the 11st and 12nd of March at the circuit of Motorland, finished with three wins for the Industrias Lahoz cars, winners at the 'division III', with Ares Lahoz, at Car Cross, with Juan José Moll and at the Junior category, with Pol Catalá.
The win of the Mollerussa (Lleida) driver, Ares Lahoz, at the wheel of the Speed Car TTX, was the first overall victory in this category for a woman in the history of the Autocross Spanish Championship.
Sensational debut for Ares Lahoz in the 'division III'. The young Speed Car driver entered the race of Motorland with Suzuki 600cc engined TTX, a car built by Industrias Lahoz for this year Junior Buggy category of the European Autocross Championship. Despite the superior capacity of the engines in her rivals cars, Ares scored an oustanding win in his mayden run in the category.
Good result aldo for Eduardo Sotelo with the Speed Car TTR. The Automóvil Club Mirandés driver got the 'pole position' for the final, and finished the race in fourth position.
Five Xtrems among the fifteen cars in the final race at Motorland shown that this Speed Car model remains as the car to beat in the very competitive Car Cross category.
At the wheel of one of the Xtrems, Juan José Moll scored the first win of the year. The current national champion started the new season on a high and gets already to the top of the standings and in the best possible way to renew the title. Moll started from the 'pole position' and crossed the finish line almost 12s ahead of the next competitor, a really big advantage for a 10 laps race.
The second Speed Car under the chequered flag was the driven by Josep Vila, who finished fourth, just a second shy of a podium position.
The 11th position, and the fastest lap of the race, was for the young Josep Arqué, who had a remarcable debut in the category coming from last year Junior series. Just behind him finished another Xtrem, driven by Pau Aulet. Ahead of both crossed the finish line the fifth Speed Car in the final, with Jordi Puigvert at the wheel, but a 'drive trough' penalty demoted him to the 14th position at the final results.
The treble of wins for Speed Car at Motorland was completed by Pol Catalá winning with his Xtrem in the Junior category. A victory, with also the fastest lap, that confirms the young catalan driver as one of the hottest prospects of the series.
The Industrias Lahoz car cross were also the car with more entries in the category for the youngest drivers, with three more, driven by Josep Aranda, Eduard Bañeres and Laura Lista, finishng from seventh to ninth position.
