The second last round of the 2017 Spanish Autocross Championship was held the 2nd and 3rd of September at Miranda de Ebro. The Burgos' region event produced good results for the Speed Car drivers. Jordi Puigvert won in the always close fought Car Cross category, while Josep Arqué and Joan Salichs got to the podium in Junior, being second and third, with both now being first and secodn in the its overall standings, and Javier Gómez scored also a podium in the Division III. And despite being olny 15th this time, Juan José Moll remains virtual leader in Car Cross, as even if he sits now second overall in total points, he's first once applied the discount of the worst result for each driver.

DIVISION III

The disivion III gathered at Miranda de Ebro its biggest field of the season with more than 20 entrants at the wheel of the more powerfull cars of Spanish Autocross. Among them were the Speed Car TTR of Juanjo Aranda, Javier Gómez and Eduardo Sotelo, who had mnixed results along the weekend.

At his home race, Gómez was among the fastests since qualifying, when he scored the second best time. Then, the 'Automóvil Club Mirandés' driver was second in two of the heats and third in the other to get fourth position in the starting grid of the final. In the race for the best 15, the Speed Car driver recoverd a position from his starting slot to cross third under the chequered flag.

Good result also for Eduardo Sotelo, the other local driver at the wheel of a TTR. After being ninth in qualifying, he finished third, fourth and eleventh in the heats to move to the final, where he finished tenth.

Aranda was less lucky as he had troubles since practice and could barely run, closing the time list in qualifying. And even of things looke like improving in the heats, with a ninth in the first and a far more promising fourth in the second, the ninth position in the third senth him to the 16th overall and out of the final. Even though, the Speed Car driver is still fourth overall in the championship, just one point shy of third position.

CAR CROSS

More than a quarter of the entrants for the second last round of the 2017 Car Cross Spanish Championship, at Miranda de Ebro, run at the wheel of the always competitive Speed Car Xtrem. A percentage that was even bigger in the final, reached by five of the ten drivers of the Catalonian brand, lead by Jordi Puigvert, who completed an almost perfect weekend. The 'Escudería Lleida' driver won two of his three heats, being second in the other one, and that secured him the 'pole position' for the final. In the race, Puigvert won with more then two seconds of difference, scoring that way his first victory of the season and a good number of points that place him third overall in the championship.

Just ahead of him in the standings lies Juan José Moll, who wasn't very lucky at the Burgos' race. After setting the second best time in qualifying, the current national champion won one of the heats ans was fourth in the other two to start the final from fifth on the grid. But a difficult race meant he ended up 15th, losing the leadership in total points that he was on since the beggining of the season. Aniway, with a round to go and a result to discount for each driver, Moll keeps all his chances to clinch the title again.

The second best result for the Speed Car drivers at Miranda de Ebro was set by Jordi Nualart, who finished fith in the final dafter starting sixth thanks to his consistency in the heats, where he scored three third positions. Yet another top ten position also for David Casadevall, eigth this time and keeping the fifth place in the overall standings. And also quite good race for Joan Closa, who scored his best result of the year, getting to the final and finishung 12th.
