MATSCHENBERG (European Autocross Champ.)

Direct presence for Industrias Lahoz at the third round of the European Autocross Championship, held the 23rd, 24th and 25th of June at Matschenberg. Delfín Lahoz y Joan Enric de María raced at the German track at the wheel of their Speed Car, showing their speed and the competitivity of their cars while battling with the best drivers and teams of the european series.

Delfín had a tough start because some fuel pump issues in practice and the first heat. But as soon as they were fixed he left his mark in the second heat, when he finished fourth after starting from the back of the grid. In the last heat, the Speed Car driver was again among the fastest, crossing the finish line in third position to advance to semifinal with the seventh spot of the grid. There he was third after starting seventh, and that should have granted him a position in the final. But a quite harsh decission of the Race Director, who deemed incorrect one of his overtaking moves, meant a penalty that, even if it was the only one awarded to him along the whole weekend, dind't allow the Speed Car driver to be in the final.

Joan Enric de Maria was 17th in practice and shone in the heats, where he was both fast and consistent, finishing third at the second one and third at the other two. These great results put him in the semifinals wuth very good chances to advance to the final, but the aggresive driving of some of his rivals meant several contacts that ended up producing some mechanichal damage to his Speed Car and he couldn't go on.

All in all, and despite the bitter taste for the two drivers of not taking part in the final even if they had the speed to do it, the whole experience was very positive for all the members of the Speed Car trip to Alemania, where he measured pretty well against the crop of European Autocross.
